Cleats to Go…

Here's a sporty idea that's sure to stick around: self-adhesive cleats for those who need instant golf shoes.

Inspired when forgotten golf shoes ruined a round, these disposable soft cleats convert almost any shoes into golf shoes-penny loafers, deck shoes, tennis shoes, even cowboy boots.

"I was playing a long par 5 with friend who had forgotten his golf shoes," says

Atlanta

native Richard Blackwell, inventor of the cleats and co-founder, with his wife, of Rede Golf. "His foot slipped and he sliced the ball. I wondered why nobody made a product for golfers in this situation."

He quit wondering and began inventing. The result is the red e-shaped peel-and-stick cleat that's named after his red-headed wife, Elizabeth. "I wanted to call the cleats Lizzies," he laughs, "but then we thought men might not buy them."

The Blackwells launched Rede Golf at the PGA Expo in

Orlando

last year and are already making plans to add a children's line of cleats for golf, soccer, football and other sports.

"We originally introduced our cleats as temporary, but with improvements in plastics and adhesives, you can actually wear them a lot longer if you like," Blackwell says. "I'm wearing some that have been on for three weeks now."

Permitted under the Rules of Golf by the USGA and the R&A, Rede cleats come 20 to a pack for $19.95 and are available at redegolf.com. They'll help with your slip, but you're on your own when it comes to your slice.

The greatest pain we all experience in life is self-inflicted. It is called regret. J. Richard Blackwell Co-founder of Rede Cleats
