Rede Golf Whenever Richard Blackwell, 57, played golf with his friends, invariably someone would forget his golf shoes and be forced to play in sneakers. So after Blackwell was downsized, he thought he'd try to design cleats that could turn any pair of shoes into golf shoes. Blackwell started Rede Golf in Urbanna, VA., in 2001. After enlisting the aid of an industrial adhesives company, he developed plastic peel-and-stick cleats that attach to the bottom of any shoe and can be easily removed. The cleats run $19.95 for a pack of 20, and Blackwell is selling through pro shops and pitching to retailers. The cleats are a hit with diabetic golfers, who avoid off-the-rack golf shoes that may give them blisters, which can lead to more serious medical problems. Says Blackwell, "I've have [diabetetics] call me, almost in tears, thanking me for making it so they can play golf again."
The greatest pain we all experience in life is self-inflicted. It is called regret. J. Richard Blackwell Co-founder of Rede Cleats
